Opening Speech - Director-General of Design Policy Bureau, Choi In-Kyu
Hello, everyone. I am In Kyu CHOI, Director-General of Design Policy Bureau.
I would like to first extend my gratitude to the speakers at home and abroad who prepared for the Seoul Design International Forum which is in its third year this year and to all citizens participating online. Thank you all.
The Seoul Design International Forum was first held in 2020 by combining two separate events, the Seoul Social Problem Solving Design International Forum and the Universal Design International Seminar.
The forum seeks to solve various social and urban issues through design and to create an urban environment in which citizens can experience and enjoy new themes.
In the meantime, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has established the nation's first design bureau and introduced design into administration.
Currently, we are proactively responding to the internal and external environment through design.
Also in order to realize a high-quality smart design city, as of August 19 this year, a new position of design policy officer was created.
Currently under the overarching vision of enhancing the quality of life of the citizens of Seoul and raising the global competitiveness of the city through design,
the city is implementing a variety of projects with the goals of creating a city where citizens can experience design in their daily lives,
building a design industry that elevates the city's competitiveness, and creating a city with a beautiful cityscape both day and at night.
The theme of this year's forum is how does design enrich our future.
Today we will discuss how design is being used as an engine to enhance the value of life and how our citizens are enjoying and benefiting from these designs.
I hope today you will be able to experience design wholeheartedly through human centric design and experience design.
I hope for vibrant exchanges not only on projects pursued by the city but also by many domestic and overseas causes.
I also hope this proves to be a meaningful event where we can discuss together the way forward.
Once again, I would like to thank the speakers and I would like to wish each and every one the best of luck.
Thank you.
